Medaffcon’s new data team member, Ling Zhu, works in Medaffcon’s Stockholm office.
Medaffcon’s newest data team member, Ling Zhu, moves smoothly between Sweden and China. She has both studied and worked in both countries, and her family is also based in both.
Most recently, Ling worked as a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst at Taikang Healthcare Investment Holdings in China. There, she led data analysis projects aimed at optimizing care plans. Taikang had 16,682 elderly residents across 23 long-term care facilities.
“I prepared datasets for subjective well-being surveys and carried out a longitudinal study on the development of Activities of Daily Living (ADL), which improved the quality of care for the elderly,” Ling explains.
Ling has also studied in both China and Sweden. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Central South University in China and went on to complete a master’s degree in biomedicine at the Karolinska Institutet.
She returned to Sweden thanks to the opportunity to join Medaffcon.
“My interests lie at the intersection of technology and the life sciences. I’m truly excited to be working at Medaffcon, especially with Real World Data,” says Ling.
Earlier in her career, Ling worked as a laboratory intern for three years. She is skilled in data analysis using the R programming language, as well as deep learning with the PyTorch framework. She also has marketing experience in the pharmaceutical industry and consulting experience in healthcare.
In her free time, she enjoys powerlifting — meaning much of her spare time is spent at the gym.

Iiro joined Medaffcon in March 2017 as a Biostatistician. For the preceding four years, he has worked as a research assistant in an academic study group, analyzing clinical and genetic patient data. Iiro holds a Master of Science degree in Technology in Bioinformation Technology.
Iiro’s strengths include his strong expertise in statistics and data-analysis, hands-on experience in working with sensitive patient data, and strong interdisciplinary communication skills with experts from various fields. In the field, he is particularly interested in the large data amounts made available with the revolution of technology and how the information received such data can potentially be utilized to draw concrete conclusions, both in order to understand the nature of diseases and to advance the goals of the pharmaceutical industry and patient treatment.
